Three ways to pay
Cash. The most common by a wide margin, and the simplest. Indonesian rupiah.
Card. Accepted. Terms for card payment are confirmed with you on WhatsApp before booking, so there is nothing to discover at handover.
Bank transfer. To the account of PT SOUL BIKES INDONESIA. This is the route for long rentals, for anyone who wants a paper trail, and for companies that need to pay from a business account.
That last point is worth pausing on. A great many bikes in Bali are rented by individuals with no registered entity behind them, which is why payment is cash-only and why there is nobody to invoice you. A transfer to a company account is only possible because there is a company.

The deposit, and why the currency matters
The deposit is not a payment. It is held for the duration of the rental and returned when the bike comes back in the condition it went out.
Two things about how we handle it:
- We take it in any currency. Rupiah, dollars, euros — whatever you have on you when the bike is handed over.
- We return it in the same currency. If you left 300 euros, you get 300 euros back, not the rupiah equivalent at whichever rate applies a month later.
That second rule exists because a long rental can span a real move in the exchange rate. Converting your deposit twice means you lose on the spread twice, through no fault of your own. Holding it in the currency you paid removes the question entirely.

Getting cash in Bali without losing money
If you are paying cash, this section will save you more than the rental discount you were haggling over.
- Use ATMs attached to real banks — BCA, Mandiri, BNI — inside a branch or a proper bank booth. Standalone machines in dark corners of minimarkets are where card skimming happens.
- Withdrawal limits are low. Most machines cap a single withdrawal at around 1,250,000–3,000,000 IDR depending on the bank, so a month’s rent may take several transactions and several fees.
- Avoid the “no commission” money changers. The classic Bali con: an unusually good rate on the board, then sleight of hand while counting, or a “calculator error” in their favour. Use a licensed changer with a real shopfront, count the money yourself before leaving the counter, and do not hand it back once counted.
- Skip the airport exchange desk for anything more than taxi money. The rate is poor and you are a captive customer.
What you are actually paying for
The rental price includes two helmets, free delivery and collection within 20 km of our office on rentals of three days or more, and servicing for the whole rental period in our own workshop — oil, brake pads and tyres as they wear.
Not included: fuel, and any traffic fines you collect. Insurance is optional.
Rentals start from three days, and the daily rate falls sharply with length — a month works out roughly 2.5 times cheaper per day than short-term hire. The full breakdown is on our monthly rental page.
Paying for a long rental
For rentals of a month or more, most people pay the month up front and extend as they go. You do not need to know your end date on day one.
If you are staying a season, a bank transfer to the company account is usually the tidiest option: one payment, a record on both sides, and no walking around with a large amount of cash in a helmet compartment.
What we confirm before you book
Everything about money is agreed on WhatsApp before the bike leaves our office: the rate for your dates, the deposit amount, which payment method you are using and the terms that go with it, whether you want insurance, and where the bike is delivered.
Nothing about the price should be a surprise at handover. If something is unclear, ask before booking rather than at the roadside.
