Short answer

If you are staying in Bali for a month or more, renting a scooter by the month is a different product from the daily rental on the chalkboard: the per-day price drops to roughly a third, the bike is yours for the whole stay, and servicing, a swap to another model and delivery to your villa are all part of the arrangement. At Iron Rent a monthly scooter starts at 2,000,000 IDR for a Yamaha Fazzio 125 or Honda PCX 160, about 67,000 IDR per day. Below: the real monthly cost by model class from our live price list, what is included, how the deposit and swaps work, and what to plan for in the rainy season.

Monthly scooter rental cost in Bali by model class

The honest way to compare a monthly rental is per day on the monthly rate, because that is what you actually pay. The table lists one unit of each scooter class from our Bali catalogue; where we have several colours of a model, it shows the lowest-priced one, and the per-day figure is the month price divided by 30.

ModelccHPFrom, per day (monthly rate)
Honda Scoopy1109from 83K IDR/day
Yamaha Fazzio 1251258from 67K IDR/day
Yamaha NMAX 15515515from 83K IDR/day
Honda PCX 16015716from 67K IDR/day
Honda ADV 160 (2026)15716from 100K IDR/day
Yamaha XMAX 25025023from 167K IDR/day

In whole numbers: a Yamaha Fazzio 125 or Honda PCX 160 is 2,000,000 IDR for the month, a Honda Scoopy or Yamaha NMAX 155 is 2,500,000 IDR, the Honda ADV 160 (2026) is 3,000,000 IDR and the Yamaha XMAX 250 is 5,000,000 IDR. For comparison, the same Fazzio or PCX costs 200,000 IDR per day on a 3–6 day rental and 150,000 IDR per day on 7–14 days, so the month is about a third of the short-term per-day price.

The rule that saves money: a rental never costs more than the monthly rate. If you need a scooter for 24 or 27 days, you pay the month price, not 24 × the weekly rate. For a second month the same monthly price applies again. The price for your exact dates is confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay.

What the monthly price includes

Two helmets and a phone holder come with every bike. Servicing during the rental is in the price and is done in our own workshop at the Kerobokan office — more on that below.

Not in the price: fuel, parking fees and the optional damage protection. Protection has two levels. With MAX you pay the deposit or deductible plus 5% of the rest of the repair; with MIN you pay the deposit plus 30%. It covers the rented bike only — not people, not third parties — and only if the accident is reported from the scene, the rider is sober and the rider is the person named in the contract. On a month-long rental most people take protection, because the chance of a parking-lot scratch or a low-speed slide on a wet road over 30 days is simply higher than over three.

Deposit and what you need to rent

The deposit is refundable and comes back in the same currency you paid it in, cash or transfer, when the scooter is returned in the condition described in the contract. The amount depends on the model and the protection level, and we tell you the figure before you pay. One deposit covers the whole rental, including extensions.

To rent, a passport is enough. To ride legally in Indonesia you need your national licence with the motorcycle category plus an International Driving Permit. For a month-long stay this matters more than for a weekend, because you will ride every day and pass more police checks; if you do not have an IDP yet, we can help arrange one through our partner International Drivers Association — ask on WhatsApp before you arrive.

Changing bikes during the month: the 100,000 IDR swap

A month is long enough for your needs to change. People arrive wanting a light Scoopy for Canggu, then plan a week in the east and want something with bigger wheels; or they take an NMAX for two and the partner flies home after ten days. A swap during the rental costs 100,000 IDR, which covers washing and preparing the bike you hand back.

  • To a pricier model (say, Fazzio to ADV 160 or NMAX to XMAX 250): you pay the price difference for the remaining days.
  • To a cheaper model (XMAX to PCX, NMAX to Scoopy): the rental price stays as agreed; there is no refund of the difference.

You can swap at the office or ask us to bring the new bike to you; delivery rules are the same as for a new rental. Message us a day ahead so the bike you want is washed and ready.

Servicing during the rental in our own workshop

Over a month a scooter in Bali covers a lot of ground, and things wear: oil, brake pads, a rear tyre on a bike that does the Uluwatu run daily, a bulb, a battery that dislikes a week of rain. All of that is handled in our workshop at Jl. Raya Semer No. 38 as part of the rental. You message us, we tell you when to come or send a driver, and we fix the bike while you wait or give you another one for the time it takes.

Punctures are the most common call. Any roadside tyre shop in Bali will patch a tubeless scooter tyre for a small cash fee in ten minutes, and that is fine; if the tyre is worn rather than punctured, come to us and we replace it. If the scooter stops because of a fault that is ours, we bring a replacement; if it was filled with the wrong fuel or dropped, the repair is priced in the workshop and the deposit and protection level apply.

Fuel: the Pertamax rule

Our 150–250cc scooters run on Pertamax 92 or better; four-cylinder 250s and bigger motorcycles take Pertamax Turbo 98. Pertalite is forbidden on every bike in the fleet. The engines are tuned for the higher grade, and a month on Pertalite shows up as a rough idle and an avoidable repair bill.

Pertamax is sold at every Pertamina station — the blue pump — and at most roadside bottle stands, where it costs a little more per litre. Say "Pertamax" at the pump, not "full".

Delivery and pickup for monthly rentals

You can collect at the office (open 09:00–20:00) or have the scooter delivered; deliveries run 10:00–19:00. Delivery and pickup are free within 20 km of the Kerobokan office on rentals of 3 days or more, which every monthly rental is: Canggu, Berawa, Pererenan, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Legian, Kuta, Jimbaran, Sanur and Denpasar are all in the free zone.

Nusa Dua is usually free, though a few addresses are beyond 20 km and we check the pin first. Ubud and Uluwatu are free within 20 km, otherwise 200,000 IDR. Airport delivery is 200,000 IDR. Everywhere else in Bali — Tabanan and the west coast, Bedugul, Munduk, Lovina, Amed, Sidemen, Candidasa, Padangbai — we deliver and quote by distance and rental length on WhatsApp before you pay. If you move villas mid-month, tell us; pickup at the end is from wherever you are, within the same rules.

How monthly renters usually plan, and the rainy season

A pattern we see often, without claiming numbers: people book the scooter for the first month from abroad with a delivery to the villa on arrival day, ride a mid-size scooter (PCX 160 or NMAX 155) for everything, and decide at the end of the month whether to extend, swap or return. Extending is a WhatsApp message; the monthly price applies again and the deposit stays where it is. If your stay is 5–6 weeks, ask us to price the whole period: the extra days beyond the month are charged by the rental-length tiers, and the total is confirmed in writing.

The rainy season, roughly November to March, changes the choice of bike more than the price. Rain comes in the afternoon in heavy bursts, roads flood at the low points for an hour, and puddles hide potholes. Bigger wheels and more ground clearance help — this is where the Honda ADV 160 and the NMAX/PCX earn their keep over a Scoopy — and so does a proper rain jacket, which you can buy at any minimarket. Plan for slower trips and avoid the rice-field shortcuts after dark. On the plus side, roads are quieter and villas are cheaper, so many of our monthly renters are here precisely in those months.

FAQ

How much does it cost to rent a scooter for a month in Bali?

At Iron Rent a monthly scooter starts at 2,000,000 IDR for a Yamaha Fazzio 125 or Honda PCX 160 (about 67,000 IDR per day). A Honda Scoopy or Yamaha NMAX 155 is 2,500,000 IDR, the Honda ADV 160 (2026) 3,000,000 IDR and the Yamaha XMAX 250 5,000,000 IDR. The table above is from the live price list; the price for your dates is confirmed in writing before you pay.

What is included in a monthly scooter rental?

Two helmets, a phone holder and servicing during the rental in our own workshop in Kerobokan. Not included: fuel, parking and the optional damage protection (MAX: deposit + 5% of the rest of the repair; MIN: deposit + 30%), which covers the rented bike only.

Can I change to another scooter during the month?

Yes. A swap costs 100,000 IDR for washing and preparing the bike you return. Moving to a pricier model you pay the difference for the remaining days; moving to a cheaper one the rental price stays as agreed. Message us a day ahead.

How does the deposit work on a monthly rental?

The deposit is refundable and is returned in the same currency it was paid in when the scooter comes back in the condition described in the contract. The amount depends on the model and the protection level and is confirmed before you pay. One deposit covers the whole rental, including extensions.

What if I stay 5 or 6 weeks, not exactly a month?

Ask us to price the whole period. A rental never costs more than the monthly rate, so 22–30 days is the month price; days beyond a month are charged by the rental-length tiers, and the total is confirmed in writing before you pay. Extending at the end is a WhatsApp message.

Is delivery included for monthly rentals?

Delivery and pickup are free within 20 km of the Kerobokan office on rentals of 3 days or more: Canggu, Berawa, Pererenan, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Legian, Kuta, Jimbaran, Sanur, Denpasar. Ubud and Uluwatu are free within 20 km, otherwise 200,000 IDR; the airport is 200,000 IDR. Elsewhere in Bali we quote by distance on WhatsApp.
