Short answer

You can have a scooter waiting for you at Ngurah Rai airport (DPS): Iron Rent delivers to the airport for 200,000 IDR between 10:00 and 19:00. In practice most riders do something simpler — take a taxi to the hotel or villa and have the scooter delivered there the next morning, which is free within 20 km of our Kerobokan office on rentals of 3 days or more. Here is how both options work, what to bring, and why luggage and night flights usually decide the question.

Why trust this guide
  • Updated: 12 October 2026.
  • Written by Iron Rent, renting motorcycles in Bali since 2019 from our office in Kerobokan.
  • Delivery fees and hours are our own rules as of October 2026; traffic times around the airport vary a lot by hour.
Key facts: renting from Iron Rent
  • Price: scooters from 200,000 IDR per day; the longer the rental, the lower the daily rate, and a month never costs more than the monthly rate.
  • Included: two helmets, a phone holder, servicing in our own workshop.
  • Delivery: free within 20 km of the Kerobokan office on rentals of 3+ days; the airport costs 200,000 IDR.
  • Deposit: refundable, returned in the currency it was paid in.
  • Documents: a passport is enough to rent; to ride legally you need your national licence with the motorcycle category plus an IDP.
  • Protection: optional damage protection for the rented bike (levels MAX and MIN).

Scooters people usually pick for an arrival delivery

For a first ride out of the airport you want an automatic scooter you can manage with a backpack on. These are the models most often requested for airport and next-morning deliveries; prices are the monthly rate shown per day, shorter rentals cost more per day.

Honda Scoopy1109from 83K IDR/day
Yamaha Fazzio 1251258from 67K IDR/day
Honda PCX 16015716from 67K IDR/day
Yamaha NMAX 15515515from 83K IDR/day
Honda ADV 15015016from 67K IDR/day

If you are two people with bags, a PCX 160 or NMAX 155 carries the load far better than a 110cc Scoopy. If you are alone with a daypack, anything in the table works.

Airport delivery: how it works and what it costs

Delivery to Ngurah Rai airport costs 200,000 IDR and is available between 10:00 and 19:00. The return works the same way: handing the bike back at the airport before your flight is also 200,000 IDR. Both are confirmed in writing on WhatsApp before you pay, together with the bike, dates and price.

To arrange it, send us your flight number, terminal (international or domestic) and arrival time on WhatsApp (+62 812 2885 3301). We agree a meeting point in advance — usually the pickup area outside the terminal, because our driver cannot wait inside. Allow time for immigration and baggage: on busy evenings the queue at the international terminal can take 30–60 minutes, and the driver needs to know when you are actually walking out.

The handover itself takes 10–15 minutes: you show your passport, we go through the bike and photograph its condition together, you pay the deposit and sign, and the two helmets and phone holder are already on the bike.

Why most riders take delivery at the hotel the next morning instead

Three practical reasons, and together they explain why airport handovers are the exception rather than the rule.

  • It is free. Delivery and pickup within 20 km of our Kerobokan office are free on rentals of 3 days or more. That covers Canggu, Berawa, Pererenan, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Legian, Kuta, Jimbaran, Sanur and Denpasar. Nusa Dua is usually free, but a few addresses are beyond 20 km, so we confirm the address first. Ubud and Uluwatu are free within 20 km and 200,000 IDR beyond. For rentals under 3 days delivery is paid and the price is confirmed before booking.
  • Luggage. A scooter carries one rider, one passenger and not much else. A 20 kg suitcase does not fit on a Scoopy, and a backpack plus a cabin bag on a 110cc scooter in airport traffic is not a good first ride in a new country.
  • You arrive rested. After a long flight, Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai at 18:00 is not where you want to learn how Bali traffic moves. The next morning, with coffee and daylight, is easier.

So the usual plan: taxi or app ride to your accommodation, message us the address and a time, and the scooter arrives there — most riders choose between 10:00 and 12:00 on the first full day.

Luggage realities

Be honest with yourself about what you are carrying. A scooter's underseat compartment holds a helmet or a small daypack. Between the rider's feet there is room for one soft bag on the Scoopy and Fazzio, less on the NMAX and PCX because of the central tunnel. Anything on the back seat means riding alone.

  • One person, one backpack (up to about 40 litres): airport pickup is realistic on any scooter in the table.
  • One person with a suitcase: taxi to the hotel, delivery there.
  • Two people with any checked luggage: taxi, delivery at the hotel. No exceptions that end well.

If you still want the bike at the airport and have bags, you can send the luggage ahead with a taxi to your hotel and ride behind. It works, but it adds a taxi fare and some coordination, and the saving over simply taking delivery the next morning is usually nothing.

Night arrivals

Many flights from Europe, Australia and the Middle East land in Bali between 19:00 and 02:00. Our deliveries run 10:00–19:00, so a scooter cannot be waiting for a night arrival. This is a normal situation and the answer is simple: take a taxi to your accommodation, sleep, and we deliver the next morning at the time you choose.

From the airport, the official taxi counter and ride-hailing apps are both available at the terminal. Expect 30–60 minutes to Seminyak or Canggu in the evening, 15–30 minutes to Kuta or Jimbaran, longer to Ubud. If you book the scooter before you fly, we can hold the bike for your dates and set the delivery slot in advance, so the morning after you land there is nothing left to organise.

Documents and what to have ready

To rent from us you need only your passport. To ride legally in Indonesia you need your national driving licence with the motorcycle category plus an International Driving Permit. We help arrange an IDP through our partner, the International Drivers Association — ask us on WhatsApp before you travel.

For booking, we ask for a photo of your passport and a prepayment equal to the refundable deposit; at handover the prepayment becomes your deposit, returned in the same currency it was paid in. Have cash or a card for the rental payment and a working phone number on WhatsApp so the driver can reach you when you land. If your SIM is not active yet, airport Wi-Fi is enough for WhatsApp.

Alternatives: taxi, Grab, and the first-day plan

If you are undecided, this is the plan that causes the fewest problems. Day of arrival: taxi or ride-hailing to the hotel; evening free. Next morning: scooter delivered to the hotel, 10–15 minutes for the handover and a short explanation of the controls, then the first ride is around the neighbourhood rather than on the airport bypass.

Renting for fewer than 3 days? Delivery is then paid, so compare it with picking up at our office at Jl. Raya Semer No. 38, Kerobokan, open daily 09:00–20:00 — a 20–40 minute taxi from the airport depending on traffic. At the office you can also see the bikes, choose helmets and ask questions before you ride.

Whatever you choose, message us before you fly rather than from the arrivals hall: during high season the model you want may not be free for same-day delivery.
