Short answer
In Canggu you can have a scooter delivered to your villa or guesthouse instead of walking to a rental shop. Iron Rent is based in Kerobokan, about 15–25 minutes from Batu Bolong, and delivers free to Canggu, Berawa and Pererenan on rentals of 3 days or more. Scooters start from about 200,000 IDR per day on short rentals and come down a lot per day on weekly and monthly rates; every rental includes two helmets and a phone holder. Scooter prices in Canggu: what you actually pay
Canggu has rental shops on almost every corner, and the prices on the chalkboards are usually for a basic 110–125cc automatic. The honest way to compare is per day on the rental length you really need: a 3-day rental, a two-week rental and a month are three very different prices for the same scooter. Our rates are per bike and are the same whether you collect in Kerobokan or we deliver to Canggu.
| Model | cc | HP | From, per day (monthly rate) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Honda Scoopy | 110 | 9 | from 83K IDR/day |
| Yamaha Fazzio 125 | 125 | 8 | from 67K IDR/day |
| Yamaha NMAX 155 | 155 | 15 | from 83K IDR/day |
| Honda PCX 160 | 157 | 16 | from 67K IDR/day |
| Honda ADV 160 (2026) | 157 | 16 | from 100K IDR/day |
| Yamaha XMAX 250 | 250 | 23 | from 167K IDR/day |
Short rentals of 3–6 days cost roughly two to three times the monthly per-day rate; 7–14 days sit in between. A month never costs more than the monthly rate, and from 22 days we charge the month price. The deposit is refundable and comes back in the currency you paid it in.
Where to rent in Canggu: shop, villa delivery or our office
Three ways to get a scooter in Canggu. You can walk into one of the small shops along Jl. Batu Bolong or Jl. Pantai Berawa and ride off with whatever is parked outside. You can come to our office in Kerobokan (Jl. Raya Semer No. 38, open 09:00–20:00), look at the bikes, try the seat height and sign the contract there. Or you can send us your villa address and dates on WhatsApp +62 812 2885 3301 and we bring the scooter to you.
Delivery to Canggu, Berawa, Pererenan, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Legian, Kuta, Jimbaran, Sanur and Denpasar is free on rentals of 3 days or more, and the same applies to pickup at the end. For rentals under 3 days delivery is paid; we confirm the price before you book. Deliveries run 10:00–19:00. Our driver brings the contract, checks your passport, takes photos of the bike with you and hands over two helmets and the phone holder. The whole handover takes about 15 minutes.
To rent, a passport is enough. To ride legally you need your national licence with the motorcycle category plus an International Driving Permit; we can help arrange an IDP through our partner International Drivers Association — ask on WhatsApp.
Canggu roads: Batu Bolong, Berawa, Pererenan and the shortcuts
Canggu grew faster than its roads. The three main lanes to the beach — Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong, Jl. Pantai Berawa and Jl. Pantai Pererenan — are each one lane in each direction with cafés, parked scooters and delivery trucks on both sides. Between 16:00 and 19:00 Batu Bolong can take 20–30 minutes from Jl. Raya Canggu to the beach.
The famous shortcuts are the rice-field lanes: the Berawa–Batu Bolong shortcut, the lane from Batu Bolong towards Echo Beach and the lanes linking Pererenan with Jl. Raya Canggu. They are narrow, often just wide enough for two scooters to pass, with a drop into the paddy on one side. They work well in daylight on a light scooter. At night they are unlit, and after rain they are mud and standing water that hides holes. If you are new to riding, use the main roads for the first few days and learn the shortcuts in the morning when they are quiet.
Other things to expect: dogs sleeping on the road, scooters pulling out without looking, sand on the tarmac near the beach, and speed bumps in front of villas. Headlight on day and night, and keep both hands on the bars.
Which scooter for Canggu
For Canggu itself, light and small is an advantage: you squeeze past traffic, park in half a space and lift the bike out of a tight spot. For anything beyond Canggu — Uluwatu, Ubud, the north — bigger wheels and more power pay off.
- Honda Scoopy — light, low seat, small 12-inch wheels; good for one person on short hops between the villa, the beach and the gym. Two people plus a surfboard rack is a lot for it.
- Yamaha Fazzio 125 — similar size, a little more relaxed on bumps; a sensible choice if you mostly stay within Canggu and Berawa.
- Yamaha NMAX 155 and Honda PCX 160 — the Canggu default. Bigger wheels for the potholes, room for two, a storage compartment that takes a helmet, and enough engine to go to Uluwatu or Ubud for the day.
- Honda ADV 160 (2026) — more ground clearance and a taller stance; the calmest choice for the broken edges of the Pererenan lanes and for rainy-season puddles.
- Yamaha XMAX 250 — for two adults and longer trips; it is heavy and wide, so parking on Batu Bolong at peak time takes patience.
None of our scooters is meant for the dirt: the rice-field lanes are fine on tarmac, but beach access tracks, gravel and volcano trails are for our enduro bikes (Honda CRF150L, Kawasaki KLX 150 / 230) only. Scooters stay on paved roads.
Parking at beach clubs, cafés and the beach
Most beach clubs and larger cafés in Canggu have attended scooter parking in front or across the road; you pay the attendant a small cash fee when you leave, so keep some 2,000 and 5,000 IDR notes handy. At Batu Bolong beach and Echo Beach the parking areas by the sand fill up from late afternoon for sunset, and scooters end up double-parked. Leave yours where you can get it out without moving three others.
Always take the key, lock the steering and use the under-seat compartment rather than leaving a bag in the front hook. Helmets: take them with you or lock them to the bike if it has a helmet hook.
Rainy season in Canggu (November–March)
Rain in Canggu usually arrives as a heavy shower in the afternoon or evening; mornings are often dry, so this is the time for the longer rides. The low points to know: the rice-field shortcuts turn to mud and hide potholes under puddles, and the lanes around Kerobokan and Seminyak can be ankle- to knee-deep for an hour after a downpour. If you cannot see the road surface, go around — open drains and missing covers are common.
The first 10–20 minutes of rain are the most slippery, and painted lines and metal plates are ice when wet. Brake earlier, both brakes gently, no sudden throttle in corners. If your scooter stutters after deep water, stop, do not keep pressing the starter, and message us on WhatsApp; we will tell you what to do. If the bike you have is wrong for the season, a swap costs 100,000 IDR (washing and preparing the bike); moving to a pricier model you pay the difference, to a cheaper one the price stays.
Fuel, servicing and what happens if something goes wrong
Our 150–250cc scooters run on Pertamax 92 or better — Pertalite is not allowed, and the bike is handed over with that written in the contract. During the rental the scooter is serviced in our own workshop in Kerobokan — oil, brakes, tyres — and if something needs attention you message us and we arrange it, in most cases at your villa or with a replacement bike.
Optional damage protection comes in two levels: MAX (you pay the deposit/deductible plus 5% of the rest of the repair) and MIN (plus 30%). It covers the rented scooter only, not people or third parties, and only if the incident is reported to us from the scene, the rider is sober and is the named rider on the contract. A low-speed drop on a wet Canggu lane is exactly what it exists for — call us before moving the bike, take photos and wait for instructions.
FAQ
How much does it cost to rent a scooter in Canggu?
Per day it depends on the rental length. On a monthly rate a Honda Scoopy, Yamaha Fazzio, Honda PCX 160 or Yamaha NMAX 155 comes to well under 100,000 IDR a day; 3–6 day rentals cost roughly two to three times the monthly per-day rate. The live prices are in the table above, and the price for your dates is confirmed in writing before you pay.
Do you deliver scooters to villas in Canggu, Berawa and Pererenan?
Yes. Delivery and pickup within 20 km of our Kerobokan office are free on rentals of 3 days or more, and Canggu, Berawa and Pererenan are in that zone. For rentals under 3 days delivery is paid and the price is confirmed before booking. Deliveries run 10:00–19:00.
Which scooter is best for Canggu?
For short hops inside Canggu a light Honda Scoopy or Yamaha Fazzio 125 is easy to park and handle. If you ride two-up, carry a board or plan day trips to Uluwatu or Ubud, the Yamaha NMAX 155 or Honda PCX 160 is the more comfortable choice; the Honda ADV 160 adds ground clearance for broken lanes.
What do I need to rent a scooter in Canggu?
To rent: your passport. To ride legally: your national licence with the motorcycle category plus an International Driving Permit. We can help arrange an IDP through our partner International Drivers Association. A refundable deposit is taken and returned in the same currency.
Can I ride the scooter on the rice-field shortcuts and to the beach?
On the paved rice-field lanes, yes — carefully, in daylight, and not after heavy rain. Dirt tracks, sand and gravel beach access roads are off limits for scooters; only our enduro bikes (Honda CRF150L, Kawasaki KLX 150 / 230) may be ridden off-road.
What is included in the rental?
Two helmets, a phone holder and servicing in our own workshop during the rental. Optional damage protection (MAX or MIN) can be added. Fuel is yours: Pertamax 92 or better, never Pertalite.
