Motorcycle & Scooter Rental in Jimbaran

Jimbaran sits on a curved bay just south of the airport, known for the fish market at Kedonganan and seafood grills on the sand at sunset. Behind the bay the land rises onto the Bukit peninsula, where villas, large resorts, the Udayana University campus and Garuda Wisnu Kencana sit up the hill. Couples, families and anyone who wants quieter evenings than Kuta stay here, and many use Jimbaran as a base for Uluwatu’s beaches.

Jimbaran is inside our free zone: delivery and pickup are free on rentals of 3 days or more. Further south on the Bukit, towards Uluwatu, delivery is free within 20 km of our Kerobokan office and 200,000ย IDR beyond. For rentals under 3 days delivery is paid, and the price is confirmed before booking.

A passport is all you need to rent. To ride legally in Indonesia you need your national licence with the motorcycle category plus an International Driving Permit; we can help you arrange an IDP through our partner International Drivers Association.

What the roads are like

  • Jl. Raya Uluwatu. The main road up the Bukit starts in Jimbaran and climbs steadily. It carries trucks, tour buses and a lot of scooters, and is busiest in the late afternoon when everyone heads to Uluwatu for sunset.
  • Airport stretch. Heading north to Kuta, traffic funnels past the airport on the Bypass Ngurah Rai. Allow extra time at peak hours, roughly 07:00โ€“09:00 and 16:00โ€“19:00.
  • Bay-side lanes. The streets down to the beach cafรฉs are narrow and crowded at sunset. Park where the attendants show you, never on the sand.
  • Hills and rain. Roads on the Bukit side are steep in places. In wet-season downpours water runs down them and sand and gravel collect on the bends.
  • Night riding. Many side roads on the hill are poorly lit, and dogs sleep on the warm tarmac. Ride slower after dark.

Which bike to choose

Down by the bay a Honda Scoopy or Yamaha Fazzio 125 is fine for short trips. If you will ride up the Bukit every day, especially with a passenger, a Yamaha Aerox 155, Yamaha NMAX 155, Honda PCX 160 or Honda ADV 160 climbs Jl. Raya Uluwatu with far less effort.

For the Bukit coast a Honda CB500X or Kawasaki Versys 650 is comfortable with two, while a KTM Duke 390 or Yamaha MT-03 is light and quick in the bends. A Kawasaki KLX 230 SM or Honda CRF150L suits the steep, broken village roads down to some beaches, but riding on sand, beaches or dirt trails is prohibited by the rental contract.

Where to ride from here

  • Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) โ€” 10โ€“20 minutes uphill, a short ride that is a good first test of a new bike on a climb.
  • Nusa Dua โ€” 15โ€“25 minutes across the Bukit, quiet roads once you are past the Jimbaran junctions.
  • Padang Padang and Bingin โ€” 25โ€“40 minutes, both beaches are reached by steps, so leave the bike in the parking at the top.
  • Uluwatu temple โ€” 30โ€“45 minutes via Jl. Raya Uluwatu, traffic is heavy in the hour before sunset.
  • Kuta and Seminyak โ€” 25โ€“50 minutes past the airport, the bypass is slow at rush hour.

Questions we get

Do you deliver to Jimbaran and the Bukit?

Jimbaran is in our free zone: delivery and pickup are free on rentals of 3 days or more. Further towards Uluwatu it is free within 20 km of our Kerobokan office and 200,000ย IDR beyond; rentals under 3 days have paid delivery, confirmed before booking.

What do I need to rent and to ride legally?

Can you bring the bike to the airport?

Yes, airport delivery is 200,000ย IDR. Jimbaran is a short ride from the airport, so many guests take a taxi to the hotel and have the bike delivered there, free on rentals of 3 days or more.

Is a 125cc scooter enough to ride from Jimbaran to Uluwatu?

Solo, yes. With two people, a 155โ€“160cc scooter such as the Yamaha NMAX, Honda PCX or Honda ADV handles the long climb on Jl. Raya Uluwatu much better.
