Tanah Lot, Kedungu, Balian and Medewi line up along one coast road west of Canggu. A scooter or motorcycle lets you ride the surf towns of the west at your own pace.
West of Canggu the coast gets quiet quickly. Tanah Lot and Kedungu are 30–60 minutes away; Balian and Medewi are proper surf towns 1.5–2.5 hours up the road towards Gilimanuk, with black-sand beaches, rice fields and far fewer cars than in the south. Riders come here for the waves, the sunsets at Tanah Lot and a slower base than Canggu.
We deliver to the Tabanan coast: it is outside our free zone, so the fee depends on the distance and the length of the rental and is confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay. Many riders simply pick the bike up at our Kerobokan office (open daily 09:00–20:00) and ride west — Balian is about 1.5–2 hours from Canggu, and the coast road makes a good first day of the trip.
To rent you only need a passport. To ride legally in Indonesia you need your national licence with the motorcycle category plus an International Driving Permit; we help arrange the IDP through our partner International Drivers Association.
For Tanah Lot and Kedungu any scooter works, including a Honda Scoopy or Yamaha Fazzio 125 for one rider. Balian and Medewi mean long stretches on the highway with trucks, so take at least a 150cc: the Yamaha NMAX 155, Honda PCX 160 and Honda ADV 160 cruise comfortably, and the Yamaha XMAX 250 is the relaxed choice for two people.
If you plan to explore the whole west coast or continue to Jatiluwih and the mountains, an adventure bike fits better: the Honda CB150X for a light ride, the Honda CB500X or Kawasaki Versys 650 for two-up touring with luggage. Bikes of 150–250cc need at least Pertamax 92; bigger bikes need Pertamax Turbo 98.

Two helmets and a phone holder are included with every rental; insurance is optional. Prices for 1–2 days and 13–29 days are on each bike page and in the full price list.
Scooters start from 200,000 IDR per day, and monthly rentals from 2,000,000 IDR. A month never costs more than the monthly rate, so a long surf stay works out much cheaper per day. Every rental includes two helmets and a phone holder.

It is the busiest road in west Bali, with buses and trucks heading for the Java ferry. Ride it in daylight, keep left and use a 150cc or bigger bike so you are not the slowest vehicle on the road.
Only to the parking on the tarmac. Riding on beaches, sand and dirt is prohibited by the rental contract for all our bikes, including the enduro models.
